Part one of Countersignal’s side project The Prodrome, Antiframe combines distorted guitars, simmering sine wave basslines, and reverberating vocals and percussion to create a detailed auditory representation of a slow, agonizing psychological and emotional death spiral. The tracks are connected through themes of isolation, longing, destruction, and resignation, forming a cohesive narrative where each track builds on the last, painting a clear picture of internal conflict and despair. The apocalyptic and supernatural imagery across the album helps to reinforce the emotional landscape of the character’s inner world. Though the settings vary, the underlying emotions of disillusionment, pain, and longing tie everything together in a stripped-down post-rock/electronic package.
